The plant we have designed for soil remediation is based on controlled cavitation, gasification and plasma torch. It is thought for severe pollution cases. Each line will be able to process about 24,000 tons per year, could work up to 330 days per year and will occupy about 8 40-foot transportable containers.
The process is splitted into 4 phases.
First phase
- the soil is excavated using bulldozers to the required depth (usually 1 meter).
- the excavated soil is finely ground and placed in a mixer that will dilute it to 95% with a mix of water (94%) and exhausted industrial acids (1%).
- the fluid will be treated with cavitation and then passed first in a filter press and then in a special dryer able to recover the water for subsequent reuse in the process. The heat is supplied by the gasifier.
In cavitation both the asbestos chains and the PFAS molecules are broken.
Second phase
- the newly dried soil is mixed with 1/3 of non-recyclable plastics or cardboard and inserted in the reactor of the gasifier and brought to 1,100 degrees Celsius.
In this phase the energy required for processing is produced (by gasification of plastics or cardboard) as well as proceeding with a first sterilization of the soil.
Third phase
- At the end of the gasifier a small plasma torch sterilizes the sand resulting from the gasification, inhertizing it completely.
Fourth phase
- The lava rock produced can be used to fill a section of what was excavated or shaped and sold.
The lava will be about 10% of the weight of the earth removed.
The mobile plant, if constantly supplied with plastics or cardboard, will be completely autonomous energetically. This is about 4 trucks of plastic matrices per day.
The plant we have designed for soil washing is based on controlled cavitation. It is thought for less serious cases or in ordert to reclaim contaminated water in aqueducts or to perform water captation in compromised sites. We use controlled cavitation by adding, or not, chemicals; treating only water, the chemical used could be ozone taken directly from the air; we also apply the irradiation of the liquid using UV.
Each plant will be certified by the RINA Group which will also validate the construction projects as well as the construction of the plant itself.
In presence of asbestos we highly recommend to apply soil remediation insthead of soil washing.
